What is WHMIS 2015?

Canadian law requires that anyone handling or coming in contact with hazardous materials in the workplace must have WHMIS 2015 training. The letters WHMIS stand for Workplace Hazardous Material Information System and is designed to be universal, allowing important information to be clearly understood. 

Our trained professionals combined content from WHMIS 1988 and the new Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling for chemicals (GHS) enacted in 2015.

After you have finished training in WHMIS you should be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) in your workplace.
  • Describe the different requirements for supplier and workplace labels.
  • Find information on the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) to use the product safely in your work area.
  • Explain the health and safety hazards you may encounter.
  • Identify the WHMIS pictograms and the safety precautions to take when handling the product or material.
  • Describe your rights and responsibilities as they relate to WHMIS legislation.

*Group Management Tools are used to Manage Group Accounts with Group Leaders. These are for organizations that need more hands-on reporting. Support is during regular business hours (EST time zone.)


During online training, participants will be assessed by end-of-lesson quizzes. These quizzes are designed to test understanding of the material, and usually reference key concepts as well as how this training relates to personal work environments. 

End-of-course tests assess and encompass the scope of the entire course, and are meant as a means to determine understanding of content. By completing these assessments, a course certification will be awarded to the account.

How long will I have access to the course?

Course Access depends on account type. If you are an individual, access to the materials and resources of a course is 6 months from account creation. If your account is part of a client group, then access to the course and materials would be controlled by your employer. 

What is the delivery format of the course?

There are two ways our courses can be delivered. 1) by an on-site staff member who guides employees through the information we provide. This is a hybrid model. 2) Through our on-line, self-directed training program. Material here maybe presented in either video or written format or both. 

What if I have problems while taking the course, or have issues completing a lesson?

We’re here to help! We have a top nautch Support Team that works hard to solve any problem that pops up. If you run into issues with the platform, and are part of a group, your Group Leader can often solve problems you may have. 

However, reach out to our Support Team, whenever you feel you need to!

How will I be recogonized when I complete a course?

Once a course has been successfully completed the system will issue a certificate with the users information on it. This is the information that the user / employer has provided us. 

In the event that it is a hybrid course, and the final test is being taken with pencil and paper, an on-site staff member will need to fill in the information so long as the final exam has been completed successfully. 

Do I need to purchase additional materials?

No, everything you need to complete the course is included in the materials and resources for that course. Nothing additional is needed. 

What type of device do I need to complete the course?

Many of our courses have various media elements in them. An internet connection is needed to complete any of our online courses.
